KW expands models available for Cummins ISX

KIRKLAND, Wash. (Dec. 27, 1999) — Kenworth Truck Co. has expanded the range of models it can equip with the ISX engine from Cummins Engine Co. The high-horsepower, high-torque diesel engine will be offered on three new T800 configurations, three W900 models, one T600, and one T2000.

The engine is available on:

o T600: standard hood, 1200-square inch radiator, 500 hp maximum;
o T800: standard hood, 1,200 square-inch radiator, 500 hp maximum;
o T800: high hood, 1,430 square-inch radiator, 600 hp maximum;
o T800: wide hood, 1,520 square-inch radiator, 600 hp maximum;
o W900: standard hood, 1,200 square-inch radiator, 500 hp maximum;
o W900: standard hood, 1,430 square-inch radiator, 600 hp maximum;
o W900: extended hood, 1,200 square-inch radiator, 600 hp maximum;
o T2000: 120-inch BBC hood, 1,350 square-inch radiator, 600 hp maximum; and C500: straight hood, 1,430 square-inch radiator, 600 hp maximum.

Regarding maximum horsepower, vocational restrictions apply on rear axles and available axle ratios, the company said.
