While roads and bridges are important in themselves, the legislation is starting to hit every aspect of your industry; it's as expansive as it is expensive. These elected members of both the House and Senate, of which there are 435 and 100 voting, respectively, are working to beat an end of the month deadline before current highway funding expires, including figuring out where the money will come from and if they will pass a short-term funding patch or a longer one covering several years. While the issued is far from settled, it is clear trucking interests and issues are getting some attention from Congress, with lawmakers offering up proposals that include everything but the kitchen sink.
Researchers Need Your Help to Tackle Truck Driving Vibration
WATERLOO, ON -- Now is your opportunity to take part in a research study that aims to address a serious problem truckers face everyday, vibration in trucks and the seats drivers use. A collaborative effort between researchers at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Waterloo, along with the MFL Occupational Centre and the Manitoba Trucking Association, is looking for both fleets and drivers that will allow them measure the vibration in trucks along different Manitoba roadways while comparing different types of seats. There is clear evidence that long-term seated exposure to whole body vibration (WBV) leads to low back pain and disability, according to Nicolette Carlan, project coordinator at the University of Waterloo.
Titanium Transportation Gets New Rigs, Increasing Fleet Size
WOODBRIDGE, ON - The trucking operation Titanium Transportation Group Inc. said this week it received the first shipments of its 2016 Volvo VNL 670 model trucks and expects to take delivery of a total of 140 Volvo trucks during 2015 and in early 2016.
Average Diesel Cost Lowest in Nearly Three Months
LONDON, ON and WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The average Canadian price of diesel continues moving lower, hitting its lowest level this week since just after mid-April. New figures released by the petroleum information services provider The Kent Group show it's at $1.109 per liter, down $0.008 from last week. This is also the third straight weekly drop and has shed $0.015 during this time.
