Oil and gas firm buys two Alberta trucking outfits
CALGARY -- Enerchem International Inc., a supplier of over 300 oil and gas based formulations, announced a Letter of Intent to purchase all of the issued and outstanding shares of Millard Trucking Ltd. and J.D.M. Trucking Ltd., for an undisclosed cash amount.
OTA helps get Hwy. 402 corridor improvements passed
SARNIA, Ont. -- Sarnia city council voted this week to go ahead with a plan to expand Hwy. 402, despite earlier indications that the much-needed improvements to Canada's second busiest commercial corridor and land crossing into the U.S. might be delayed.
2005 trade with U.S. up 10 points
WASHINGTON -- Trade via surface transportation between the U.S. and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was 10 percent higher in 2005 than in 2004, the second consecutive year of growth of at least 10 percent, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Rail carloadings dip slightly, but up overall
OTTAWA -- Railway loadings declined in January this year compared with December, but only slightly, says a Stats Can report. However, business is booming for rail. In fact, on a year-over-year basis, tonnage increased at its fastest pace in three years the first month of 2006.
