What do I do about this surcharge?
Dear Editor,
I was recently reading an article in this magazine about an industry-agreed 8.9 per cent fuel surcharge.
As I am a load broker, I would like to know whether or not this was an amount that applies only to Ontario O/O’s or is it to be applied Canada-wide?
Secondly, I notice this agreement does not have the force of law, but is there some mechanism in place whereby those shippers that refuse to pay can be held accountable?
Thirdly, is there any single industry document that I could include with my invoices that would explain to my customers as to why I am collecting an 8.9 per cent fuel surcharge? n
