ATA calls for continued ELD push
ARLINGTON, VA - The American Trucking Associations (ATA) is calling on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to continue in the push toward a December rollout of mandated Electronic Logging Devices. "Supporters of a delay are attempting to accomplish, almost at the 11th hour, what they've been unable to do in the courts, Congress or with the agency: roll back this common sense, data-supported regulation based on at best specious and at worst outright dishonest arguments," says Bill Sullivan, executive vice president - advocacy, in a blunt letter to the administration's deputy administrator. U.S. Representative Brian Babin has introduced legislation to delay the mandate by two years.
New truck show all about business
TORONTO, ON -- The North American Commercial Vehicle Show (NACV Show) won't look like other trucking events across the U.S. when the doors open from September 25-28. There will be no recruiting pavilion; no show and shine competition. Not even drivers walking the halls. But when the inaugural event opens in Atlanta, Georgia, it will feature an undeniable focus on the business of trucking.
Jamboree shines at world’s largest truckstop
WALCOTT, IA - For 38 years the World's Largest Truckstop in Walcott, Iowa has been putting on a Truckers Jamboree. For more years than she cares to count, Heather DeBaillie has been organizing this show. During July 13-15, there were 157 exhibits, 72 rigs in the Super Truck Show and Shine, and close to 200 antiques -- all brought by meticulous drivers from Florida to Canada. Walk around and you'll quickly pick up on the love these people have for their industry. Look a little closer and you'll see the care they also have for others displayed anywhere from messages on their trucks to full-wrap tribute vehicles.
