Air Brake Indicator is For Sure
Bendix Commercial vehicle Systems
Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems says it has a solution to air brake problems, which is the number one cause of out-of service orders. The SureStroke
Indicator is a visual-gauge device that measurers brake stroketravel length- allowing operators to quickly determine if the vehicle’s air brakes are
adjusted correctly.
It consists of a metal bracket that bolts onto the brake chamber; a pre-measured reference unit that attaches to the bracket; a replacement clevis pin; two yellow pin covers that establish the acceptable limits for stroke length; a red clevis pin pointer which is attached to the slack adjuster; and various hardware. If the brakes are adjusted properly, the red pointer pin will align with the center of the real’ yellow marker when the air brakes are applied between 90-100 p.s.i. Because the SureStroke Indicator is a visually-indicative system, the company says it reduces the time required to determine if brakes are in adjustment from 20 minutes to under five.
The SureStroke Indicator is available in both normal and emergency situations and promoting balanced braking, which can reduce the risk of jack knifing situations and excessive wear on tires.
The product is available in two universal formats-one for power units, trucks and buses, and one for trailers. The pre-measured reference unit comes in 21/2″, 2″ and 1 3/4″ sizes to meet carious brake chambers and is compatible with any air braked, class 6,7, or 8 vehicle using S-Cam brakes and slack adjusters.
