Closing In on a Million: Kenworth produces 700,000 trucks

KIRKLAND, Wash. — The 700,000th Kenworth truck in the truckmaker’s 82-year history rolled off the line at the Renton, Wash. Manufacturing plant this week.

The truck is a new 2006 Model W900 with 72″ AeroCab Aerodyne sleeper produced for long-time customer James H. Clark & Son, Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah.

“Kenworth is very proud to achieve the production of 700,000 Kenworth trucks and we recognize the dedication and commitment of our employees throughout our history to build the World’s Best trucks,” said Bob Christensen, Kenworth general manager and PACCAR vice-president.

Jeff Clark, co-owner and vice-president of James H. Clark & Son, Inc., and former company president James C. Clark, son of the company’s founder, were among company officials at the special ceremony attended by Kenworth-Renton plant employees.

“It’s a great honour and privilege for our company to receive this very special and historic 700,000th Kenworth truck built by the plant employees at Renton,” said Jeff Clark. “The commitment of Kenworth’s employees to provide us with world-class, premium Kenworth trucks are very much appreciated.”
