Coveted business award given to PeopleNet founder

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Ernst & Young has recognized PeopleNet CEO and founder Ron Konezny as Entrepreneur Of The Year in the technology category for the Upper Midwest region.

The prestigious award honors entrepreneurs from all over the world who are building and leading a dynamic, growing business. Entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities are considered.

"This honor belongs to our incredible PeopleNet team, including customers, employees and investors," Konezny said.

Konezny spearheaded the introduction of several of the onboard communications company’s flagship products in his previous role as chief technology officer, including a commercial product to integrate GPS, wireless communications and the Internet. During his tenure, the company also rolled out its over-the-air programming capabilities, handheld integration, PerformX engine diagnostics and email-based form messaging.

Konezny will now be considered for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2009 national program, which will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., in November.
