Daimler Celebrates 1,000th Natural Gas Truck

ANAHEIM, CA — Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) celebrated the delivery of their 1,000th natural gas truck yesterday.

DTNA took over Angel Stadium to commemorate the milestone alongside local politicians and company execs.

DTNA says that it is the first north American commercial vehicle manufacturer to hit 1,000 natural gas trucks

The keys to the Freightliner 114SD compressed natural gas (CNG) truck went to Ryder System, Inc.

The truck is powered by a Cummins Westport ISL G 8.9 liter engine, the only one of its kind that is a factory-produced, dedicated natural gas engine, DTNA said.

"These vehicles not only save our customers money, they also provide air quality benefits in the communities where they are deployed," said Bob Carrick, vocational sales manager, natural gas Freightliner trucks for Daimler Trucks North America.
