Freightliner extends auto tranny partnership with Allison
PORTLAND, Ore. – Daimler Trucks North America has extended its partnership with Allison Transmission.
A new multi-year, long-term agreement means Allison Automatics will be the exclusive automatic transmission installed in all DTNA product lines, including Freightliner, Western Star, Freightliner Customer Chassis and Thomas Built Buses, and will work in conjunction with engines from DTNA’s sister company, Detroit Diesel.
The formal partnership provides superior engine/transmission integration in areas such as fuel efficiency and future product offerings.
Freightliner Trucks and Western Star recently announced plans to release Allison Optimized packages across a variety of vocational vehicles.
“In partnering with Allison Transmission, (DTNA) will offer their customers the full complement of Allison’s productivity, efficiency and performance features and benefits developed during years of experience in medium and heavy-duty vocational markets,” said Jim Wanaselja, VP of North American Marketing, Sales and Service for Allison Transmission.
