Hino Truck Outfitted to Handle Canada

Hino Canada has introduced a new flagship cabover specifically tailored for the Great White North.

The new “workhorse” SG3325 model, previously available only in Japan, will now be spec’ed and distributed for sale in Canada for 2002. The company says the new 9-speed SG3325, with a gross vehicle weight of 15,000 kg (33,000 pounds) and a payload capacity of 10,363 kg (22,800 pounds), is ideally suited for Canadian applications such as vehicle transport carriers, building and construction, and reefer body. It comes with the new “J-Series” 6 cylinder overhead cam, turbo intercooled, 252-horsepower engine and is also available with an optional five-speed Allison MD automatic.

“The SG3325 is an existing model. We’ve had the 6-speed and the automatic available. But the new 9-speed version with the Allison transmission is something specifically developed for our market,” said Hino Canada marketing projects coordinator Louise West.

The company also maintains that some customers have reported a 20% fuel savings over trucks in the same class due to the new four-valve overhead cam and a newly designed turbo charger to work in conjunction with the Hino micro mixing fuel systems on the J-Series.

The SG3325, like all Hino trucks brought into Canada, is manufactured in Japan.
