Kenworth adds Allison 2000 and 2400 options to its T300 midrange truck

Kenworth
Kenworth said it will offer Allison 2000 Series and 2400 Series automatic transmissions for its T300 medium-duty truck.

Both transmission models are fully automatic five-speeds with overdrive, lockup, and a powerful 32-bit microprocessor. Power-take-off (PTO) drive gears are optional.

Kenworth will mate the Allison transmissions to Caterpillar’s 3126 engine rated at 545 foot-pounds of torque or below. A Spicer SPL100 driveline is also part of the package.

The addition of the automatics is an attempt to appeal to more class-6 T300 buyers, Kenworth said, who tend to prefer automatic transmissions. So far, the T-300 has been more popular as a class-7 vehicle.
