Mack’s new Maxitorque transmission

Mack Trucks has included the T300 to its family of T300 Maxitorque ES transmissions for highway applications, but also suitable for many on/off highway jobs as well.

The 10-speed T310, which is also available in the Mack Vision, CH and Granite models, can be matched with any of Mack’s ASET engines and is ideal for day cab tractors and small to mid-size sleepers.

Shifting is accomplished via a conventional ten speed range box pattern with 39 per cent steps. The transmission has a 19.04 overall ratio for wide operating range, a 73 overdrive top gear ratio for highway cruising, while the 13.81:1 first gear ratio provides low speed gradability, the company says.

With its lightweight aluminum case and optimized gear design, the T310 weighs in at a very competitive 665 pounds. SAE six and eight bolt PTO mounts, which operate at 70 per cent of engine speed, are also available on the right and left sides, respectively. The transmission is backed up by a 5 years/750,000 miles warrant when using either mineral or synthetic oil with a drain interval of 3 years/500,000 miles.
