New gears improve wheel cut for Pete trucks
Peterbilt Motors
Sheppard Dual Steering Gears are now available for Peterbilt’s conventional-family models, Peterbilt recently announced.
The optional dual steering gears provide improved turning radius by eliminating the power-steering assist cylinder, giving the front wheels more room to turn. Removing the assist cylinder has no impact on turning power or performance, and also reduces maintenance requirements, the company said.
The gears are said to improve durability, maneuverability, and wheel cut to heavy-duty vocational applications. Sheppard Dual Steering Gears are available for Peterbilt models 385, 379, 378, and 357 in most configurations.
