New Goodyear tires deliver durability in P&D applications

Goodyear Tires
Goodyear released two new all-position tire lines for the Class 3-5 pickup and delivery market that are designed to provide high mileage, consistent treadwear, durability, and long casing life.

Goodyear’s G647 RSA/RSS tires have an M+S rating (mud and snow) and have circumferential grooves and lateral blading for wet traction. The tires also have an optimized tread radius to reduce scrubbing and steel ply/steel belt construction for sidewall impact resistance, overall durability, tread life and retreadability.

Both the G647 RSS and RSA have a unique tire design and footprint shape that help minimize shoulder wear conditions caused by tighter and more frequent turning in regional applications. The RSA (Regional Service All Position) comes in nine tire and load range combinations (for 16- to 19.5-inch wheels) to fit most applications. The RSS (Regional Severe Service) tire is intended for more extreme P&D applications, such as package delivery, where there is more turning, backing, and braking in daily operations. The RSS is available in five size and load combinations.

The G614 RST (Regional Service Trailer), a steel belt/steel ply tire, is available in LT235/85R16, load range G. Designed specifically to handle the demands of trailer applications, it features a load range G rating that allows up to 3,750 pounds in a single application (as compared to 3,042 pounds with a load range E), the company said. Rounded shoulder ribs that increase “rib” stability and resist uneven wear.
