New lightweight wheel hubs from ArvinMeritor
ArvinMeritor’s new lightweight, yet more durable, wheel hubs will provide reduced component weight and allow for increased truck payload.
The hubs will be available for all popular trailer applications in North America and are being released from May through September 2002.
The new line of Meritor hubs accompany TN, TQ, TP and LMC series axles and will offer reduced weight without sacrificing strength and durability. The hubs were designed to fit trailer axles for various applications.
The LMC hub is a part of a unitized wheel end that contains a fully sealed, lubricated cartridge bearing. This eliminates seal leaks and provides precise bearing adjustment to reduce downtime and increase wheel end life.
The company was able to reduce the weight of the hubs 15 to 20 percent, yet still achieve maximum highway gross axle weight ratings. They will be available to commercial vehicle original equipment trailer manufacturers in North America.
