New Yokohama trailer tire
The RY587 long-haul trailer tire is the latest rubber to be added to Yokohama’s new series of high-performance on-highway tires.
Joining the RY637 steer tire and the TY527 drive tire, the RY587 also incorporates designs that target prolonging tread mileage and lower fuel consumption. Stress control grooves control the occurrence of shoulder step down wear, minimizing pressure at the edge of the tread and resulting in a reduction of free-rolling wear, the company says. 13/32-inch optimized tread depth provides protection from scuffing and irregular wear. A specialized tread compound also helps reduce rolling resistance.
Stone ejector ribs and a belt edge cushion and belt edge cover sheet help prevent premature casing damage. The tire also features enhanced wet traction with extra deep sides to enhance wet grip and maintain sharp edge effect. A distinctive Five-Rib design evacuates water from under the tread, reduces hydroplaning, and increases wet traction.
