NO-CORRODE HARNESS
Maxi-Seal Harness Systems, a subsidiary of Peterson Manufacturing, has introduced the ‘Defender’, which promises to defeat corrosion in trailer wiring. It’s a modular harness/lighting system with what is claimed to be "the toughest integrated moisture/corrosion protection ever engineered."
The system features robust harness components along with Peterson’s Piranha LED lights — all totally sealed against moisture and corrosion through Maxi-Seal’s ‘Power-Seal’ technology. An extended warranty backs the system against defects — and corrosion — for a whopping 10 years.
Peterson says it’s easy to route and install, and virtually maintenance-free, "with field tests to prove it." Those tests involved a fleet of 20 semi-trailers at a very large carrier beginning in 2008, and the company says that after 1.6 million miles over all types of roads in all kinds of weather, not a single problem has occurred.
Features include a universal distribution module; heavy-duty terminals; long-life silicone seals; installation-friendly modular plugs; sealed break-out moulds; integrated moisture barrier; dual isolated grounding; sealed terminal rings; and "innovative" J560 connectors.
Totally sealed lighting components complete the system, including all Piranha LED lights; weather-sealed connectors; linear-welded lamp housing; terminations potted into housing; acrylic DR lens; and ABS housing.
