International makes Endurant transmission standard
International LT, RH and LoneStar heavy-duty trucks will now include the Endurant 12-speed automated transmission as standard equipment. The transmission developed by Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies can support torques of 1,850 lb-ft, and be paired with the Cummins X15 or International A26 engine.
Rugged Samsung tablet comes to Canada
Samsung Electronic’s Galaxy Tab Active Pro is now available in Canada, offering a tool designed for harsh working environments. The device is able to withstand excessive pressure, temperatures, vibrations and drops, and has been tested to meeting the MIL-STD-810G military specification, the company says. It is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.
Zonar app to deliver Cummins over-the-air updates
Zonar is now offering Cummins Connected Software Updates, supporting over-the-air engine updates with the Zonar OTAir app. Details about the required updates for specific engines are offered through a Cummins portal. But the Zonar device is more than a simple conduit for the data. OTAir also helps to ensure data security during the transfers by validating the VIN to ensure the correct vehicle receives the right update.
McLeod adds broker app to TMS software
McLeod Software has updated its transportation management software to include a new carrier app for brokers, and introduced improvements for customer service teams. PowerBroker Version 20.1 has the new Carrier App to connect brokers to carriers and drivers, using a secure connection to the PowerBroker system. That means logistics companies using PowerBroker will be able to deploy some of the same capabilities promoted by “digital brokers” that engage carriers with mobile apps, the company says.
More powertrain training from NTEA
The NTEA, an association representing the work truck industry, has developed a new Truck Equipment 201 training module that covers powertrain systems. Part of a series of online courses to further the understanding of those who already have some technical knowledge, the training reaches beyond the topics outlined in the introductory TE101 course.
Induction heating releases seized parts
Induction Innovations has unveiled two new induction heating tools to help release seized aluminum and steel parts and panel bond adhesives. The ALFe 3.5 and ALFe 5.0 deliver precise, safe and reliable heat, salvaging parts that might normally be discarded in the repair process, the company says.
