The Descartes Systems Group has paired up with Microsoft to bring instant messaging to its Roadshow Transport freight management software package. The messaging service uses the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2003 and has the ability to manage the real-time tendering of shipments for trucking customers.

Providing in-the-moment exchange of information about the tendering of shipments, Roadshow Transport lets freight managers see which carriers are online and available to accept shipments, said Manuel Pietra, Descartes’ chief executive officer and president.
