Western Star adds MBE 4000 engine to databook

Western Star will offer Mercedes-Benz MBE4000 engines for its 4900 FA and 4900 SA truck models, with production to begin January 2003.
The company is marketing the 12.8-litre, in-line six-cylinder MBE4000 engine for Western Star vocational applications. The MBE4000 is rated from 350 to 450 horsepower with peak torque of 1,550 lb. ft. at 1,100 rpm.
The MBE4000 is exempt from the October 2002 emissions standards and does not require any engine modifications or aftertreatment devices under current rules. It is made by DaimlerChrysler Powersystems and is supported
by the full Western Star dealer network, as well as the Detroit Diesel service network.
