$200 million in DuraPlate orders push Wabash backlog to $1.2 billion

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (April 27) — For Wabash National’s sake, let’s hope the freight keeps rolling.

Three “of the larger” truckload carriers have placed orders worth more than $200 million US to buy Wabash’s proprietary DuraPlate trailer, the company said, elevating its backlog to $1.2 billion in value.

Nearly $800 million of the backlogged orders is for DuraPlate trailers, Wabash said. The DuraPlate trailer has composite side walls made of a high density, thermoplastic core with ultra high-strength steel skins.

“We are pleased by the continued strong demand for our DuraPlate trailer,” said Wabash president, chairman, and CEO Jerry Ehlich. “Our current backlog of orders for the DuraPlate trailer provides the company the opportunity for continued growth and margin enhancement.”

Wabash National — which claims to be the world’s largest manufacturer of semi-trailers — designs, builds, and markets trailers under the Wabash and Fruehauf trademarks.
