A Driver-friendly LVD

Intra Technologies has upgraded its existing low-voltage disconnect systems to make it easier for drivers to manage battery power consumption while the truck is parked. The LVD monitors battery levels during key-off periods and automatically disconnects non-critical electrical power loads when battery voltage reaches critical levels. The new LVD has a timer that warns the driver with a series of audible alarms before power is shut off. The goal of the LVD is to eliminate jumpstarts-about a $200 expense, the company says. Intra’s new “driver-friendly” LVD is available as an aftermarket item through truck dealers. The unit can be installed in any truck by a qualified technician in less than an hour.
