A New Day: Sameday launches cross-border joint venture

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Sameday Right-O-Way, the parcel and expedited cargo arm of Day & Ross, has formed a strategic partnership with Carson, Calif.-based Target Logistic Services to move surface and air cargo between Canada and the U.S.

The cross-border joint venture will be known as Target Logistics Canada.

The U.S. domestic and international freight forwarder and logistics provider’s 37 American offices are introducing regularly scheduled surface and air transport from any point in the U.S. to any destination in Canada.

On the Canadian side, there are 36 locations from the maritime provinces to British Columbia. Complete integration of the two companies’ EDI systems has been completed with Target’s TRACS network providing real-time shipment control.

Chris Coppersmith, president and CEO at Target, said shipper interest in the US-Canada service was strong.

“Using our key hub locations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Newark, Dallas, Chicago and Atlanta, we are offering extensive LTL and trailerload capabilities to transborder customers,” he said.

Sameday says that in addition to its non-domestic re-branding, the company has established an “International” department. Transborder-international questions can be directed to 905-676-0600, or 1-866-461-TLSC.

“This is the beginning of a new era for Sameday-TLSC and we are all extremely excited about the possibilities and benefits that this new partnership will bring,” said Sameday’s Bruce Rodgers.
