Accuride takes 100% control over Mexican wheel venture
HENDERSON, Ky. (July 23, 1999) — Accuride Corp., maker of wheel products for heavy trucks, has bought out its partner in a joint venture to build wheels in Mexico.
AdM is a joint venture formed in 1997 between Accuride and Industria Automotriz to service the growing Latin American wheel market. Accuride paid $7.3 million for the 49% it did not previously own.
“This acquisition is yet another step in our global growth strategy of providing local manufacturing for our core customers and of establishing operations in growing markets,” said Bill Greubel, Accuride’s president and CEO.
Accuride has steel wheel operations in Henderson, Ky.; Columbia, Tenn.; London, Ont., and through AdM in Monterrey, Mexico. Accuride builds aluminum wheels through AKW L.P. in Erie, Pa.
