AirIQ Flatdeck Tracking

Wireless communications provider AirIQ announced the commercial availability of its product for flat deck trailers with headboards, adding to fleet management services already available for tractors, straight-trucks, dry van trailers, refrigerated, and heated trailers. In all cases, the Internet-based solution uses on-board computing, the Global Positioning System (GPS), digital maps, and a wireless transceiver to locate, protect and manage vehicle fleets.

AirIQ introduced an array of other new services:

“Stationary Status” lets you know when your vehicles have not moved within a predetermined timeframe, and report their location once a specified amount of time has lapsed. The feature helps you improve fleet utilization and provides data to justify charges for demurrage (the practice of using an empty trailer as a storage container).

“Get GPS Mileage” uses GPS to calculate vehicle mileage. You can call the vehicles in your fleet and retrieve the accumulated GPS mileage.

“Engine Idling Alert” can identify when a vehicle is idling and keep track of the accumulated idling time. You can receive reports of your vehicles’ idling times at predetermined intervals, such as daily or weekly, and then take steps to reduce fuel consumption and other operating costs due to unnecessary engine idling.
