Alberta collision monitoring now in effect

CALGARY, (April 1, 2004) — Starting today, collision-related information will be added to the Carrier Profile for Alberta carriers operating under the Alberta National Safety Code.

Alberta Transportation will collect and use the new collision information to further evaluate a carrier’s on-road safety performance, and intervene if the carrier’s collision history indicates a risk to the public. The government has stated, however, it will not initiate disciplinary action based on any collision that has been evaluated and determined non-preventable under the evaluation process. A carrier may submit a collision evaluation application at any time.

To request an evaluation, a completed application must be sent to the Manager of National Safety Code and Operating Authority at 401, Provincial Building, 4920 – 51 Street, Red Deer, AB, T4N 6K8 – Phone (403) 340-5021, Fax (403) 340-4811.
