Alberta trucking groups merge

CALGARY (Feb. 26, 2001) — The Alberta Trucking Association and the Alberta Transportation Industry Safety Association have merged into one organization called the Alberta Motor Transport Association.

Members approved the merger Feb. 7.

Former ATISA president Lane Kranenburg was named executive director of the new organization. Former ATA general manager Al Smythe will remain in another senior management position.

Kranenburg said previous ATA and ATISA services will continue to be offered by the AMTA. ATISA provided safety training and information to workers and employers in the trucking industry.
