American Freightways bolsters Web-based customer service
HARRISON, Ark. (Sept. 14, 2000) — Less-than-truckload carrier American Freightways Corp. has added a shipment management tool to the secure side of its AF.com Web site, enabling customers to manage shipments from receipt of order through delivery to the customer.
The system’s features include an address book for consignee records; a shipping calendar displaying outbound shipments and those in transit; real-time shipment tracking using information directly from AF’s mainframe system; and customized shipment rating.
An added benefit is that it can be used for all shipments regardless of carrier, thereby providing customers the convenience of using one system for all shipping needs.
American Freightways, which offers service to Canada though interline agreements, also offers online management reports, delivery receipt and bill of lading images, customer account information, customer specific rates, integrated pick up requests, on-line filing of cargo claims, bill of lading generation, and color-coded service maps.
