American Trucking Associations names two presidents: one for now, one for later

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 2, 2001) — The American Trucking Associations, the largest truck lobby group in the United States, named Kansas Gov. Bill Graves as its next president and CEO — starting in 2003.

Graves has pledged to serve out his term as Kansas governor, which ends Jan. 13, 2003.

William J. Canary was formally named president and CEO until Graves can step in. Canary took over on an interim basis when Walter McCormick resigned four months ago.

The announcement was made on Tuesday at the ATA’s annual management conference in Nashville, Tenn.
