AMTA honors ECL President Davis
BANFF, Alta. — At its annual conference this past weekend, the Alberta Motor Transport Association gave Jim Davis, President and CEO of the ECL Group of Companies in Edmonton, the prestigious Service to the Industry Award.
The award, sponsored by Trailmobile Canada, is given to an individual who, by their commitment, vision, leadership and unstinting service, has made an outstanding contribution to the development and success of the truck transportation industry in Alberta.
Davis is also past president of the AMTA.
Under his watch, ECL grew into a large diversified fleet that stands today at 185 power units and 400 trailers. He also helped bring back under one roof all independently operated divisions and a return to ECL’s roots in the oilfield and transportation services sectors, under the banners of ECL Transportation, Liquids Division and Freight Division.
ECL was founded in 1937, when Emil Fredericks started Economy Feed and Transfer, a small feed and fuel operation that supplied bulk fuel from Maple Leaf Petroleum to the United Farmers of Alberta.
Also at the closing ceremony of the AMTA conference, was the presentation of the Associate Trades Award, which was handed to Joe Lomnicki, a dealer with Diamond International Trucks.
