Armour opens new logistics hub

DARTMOUTH, N.S. — Armour Transportation Systems has been lured to a new logistics park in Dartmouth that has been growing on the strength of the Port of Halifax’s attractiveness as an Atlantic Gateway.

The new facility, which opened this week, will have more than 100,000 sq ft of transload capacity, reports the Halifax Chronicle Herald.

It also has 22 loading doors and a cross-dock facility with 60 doors on 10 hectares of land. A potential second phase could offer 90,000 more square feet of warehousing space, according to the paper.

One major function of the centre is to process cargo for large firms like the Canadian Retail Shippers Association, which recently selected the park as its new home.

The Atlantic Canada-Halifax Logistics Park is focused exclusively on the logistics industry.
