Armour settles in Atlantic Gateway with new logistics hub

HALIFAX — Armour Transportation Systems is staking out a piece of the Atlantic Gateway with the opening of a brand new $15-million privately logistics hub in Halifax.

The 10-hectare site, at the newly-opened Halifax Logistics Park in Burnside Park, has more than 9,174 square metres of warehousing space with 22 loading doors and a cross-dock facility with 60 doors.

A three-bay state-of-the-art maintenance facility is also included. A potential second phase could offer another 8,256 square metres of warehousing space.

"This investment in our Halifax facility demonstrates our commitment to providing our existing and future customers with specialized services, including those specifically designed to service the Port of Halifax and beyond," Armour president and CEO Wes Armour said in a release.

Armour and Consolidated FastFrate operate the two largest trucking-logistics terminals inside the park.

This facility is strategically located for servicing downtown Halifax with freight arriving through the port. It also has easy access to highways in all directions outside of the city.

It is also expected to complement another transload facility Armour opened in Dartmouth last summer.
