Arrow targets possible identity crisis
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Arrow Truck Sales is alive and well, thank you very much.
Rather, it was a flatbed carrier — namely Arrow Trucking of Tulsa, Oklahoma, — that closed its doors in a flurry of negative publicity in December. Arrow Trucking went under days before Christmas leaving hundreds of drivers stranded across the continent.
Arrow Truck Sales on the other hand, is based in Kansas City and, as part of the Volvo Group, boasts almost 20 retail outlets across North America, making the 60-year-old company one of the biggest pre-owned truck dealers in North America.
This week, because of the broad media attention given the sordid closure of the Tulsa-based carrier with the similar name, Arrow Truck Sales took the unusual step of issuing a statement separating themselves from the bankrupt carrier.
In its statement, the director of Marketing for Arrow Truck Sales Don Mueller acknowledges that some people might have been confused.
"We value all of our customer relationships and sincerely hope this clears up any confusion regarding the financial health of Arrow Truck Sales.
"We look forward to serving our North American customers for all their used equipment needs for another 60 years."
The statement also appealed to the Arrow Trucking drivers who lost their jobs or, perhaps, their trucks too.
"So, if you are a displaced driver," the statement read, "let Arrow help you get back on the road.
"We certainly are saddened by the impact this closing has on the numerous employees, drivers and families of the bankrupt company. Anytime a trucking-industry company closes, it is a sad day for the entire industry."
