ArvinMeritor takes off the gloves for community program
TROY, Mich. — When it comes to giving back to the community, ArvinMeritor pulls no punches.
With its commercial vehicle aftermarket headquarters in nearby Florence, Ky., the global supplier recently donated 60 pairs of professional boxing gloves to underprivileged youth boxers of the Cincinnati Golden Gloves and Police Athletic League (PAL) Program.
The program offers thousands of inner city youth from at-risk communities a structured program that trains them in the sport of boxing while teaching them critical skills for the main event of life.
“Our organizations are strongly committed to maintaining an environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life may reach their personal best,” says Mike Pennington, ArvinMeritor’s global marketing communications director. “ArvinMeritor is proud of the choices these young people are making and we are honored to help in any way we can.”
Adds Art Neuman, director of boxing for the Cincinnati Golden Gloves/PAL program: “ArvinMeritor and the Cincinnati Golden Gloves/PAL organization share a common understanding of the power that comes from providing opportunities that enable everyone to maximize their human potential. We are grateful for ArvinMeritor’s contribution to Cincinnati’s young talent and the community at large.”
