ArvinMeritor’s Fairfield facility to close

ArvinMeritor has announced plans to close its Fairfield, Iowa plant in “late summer” 2001 because of weakening demand and the need for further investments in tooling and equipment.

The facility employs 265 people and is used to manufacture construction dryshaft components.

ArvinMeritor said its regional Customer Value Center plants will continue to produce on-highway driveline products.
