ATA launches hurricane relief website
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The American Trucking Associations has launched a “Katrina Relief Effort” website to get truckers the newest relevant information on the catastrophe and to direct motor carriers that wish to assist with the relief effort.
The site links from the ATA’s homepage www.Truckline.com. The package includes notices of trucking-specific efforts by governors and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, as well as information on road closures, changes to operating regulations, and other critical information.
The site will be updated as new information becomes available, the ATA says.
Officials have lifted hours-of-service regulations, size and weight rules, and have given fuel tax relief for carriers hauling supplies to the gulf coast or aiding in the recovery process.
