Atlantic carrier dives deeper in Western oilfield pool

HALIFAX — Clarke Inc. — a company that owns assets in industries from trucking to clothing — has expanded its precence in Alberta’s booming oilfield sector.

Clarke recently announced the purchase of units in two oilfield services-based income trusts.

The company acquired 270,300 units of Bonnett’s Energy Services Trust. Clarke now owns 12 percent of the total issued and outstanding units of Bonnett’s.

At the same time, Clarke Inc. — which in recent years moved its homebase from Concord, Ont. to Halifax, announced the acquisition of 128,100 units of Deepwell Energy Services Trust, bringing the company’s total stake up to 10.65 percent.

Bonnett’s is a leader in wireline, production and testing, as well as oilfield rental, fishing and pipe recovery.

Deepwell Energy Services provides oilfield waste management services of the oil and gas industry in Canada.
