Atlantic truckers form human resources council
DIEPPE — A group of trucking carriers part of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association have formed a Human Resource and Education Committee to explore educational options and HR challenges in the Atlantic trucking industry.
The committee consists of 10 industry professionals who will identify current educational and HR opportunities and limitations and make recommendations to the APTA for future plans.
The committee, which will begin a substantial educational undertaking in the New Year, is made up of:
Gord Peddle and Gay White of D.D. Transport; Sean Sturgeon, Warren Transport; Shane Esson, Keltic Transportation; Mark Fillmore, Atlantic Pacific Transport; Shawn Branch, Day and Ross Transportation Group; Vicki McGibbon and Dave Emeno, both of Armour Transportation Systems;
Steve Henman of Traction, Heavy Vehicle Parts Division; and Kelly Henderson, THRSC.
“The formation of such a committee is important for the future viability of our industry here in Atlantic Canada,” said Peter Nelson, APTA Executive Director. “We have at our disposal the front-line professionals who know the issues and will get the job done because it affects them directly.”
