Autocar signs first Canadian dealer, announces merchandising program

UNION CITY, Ind. (May 30, 2002) — Autocar LLC, maker of the Xpeditor line of low-cab-over-engine trucks, has added 16 dealers to its sales and service network, including Calmont Truck Centre, the company’s first dealer in Canada.

Calmont, based in Edmonton, also sells Volvo and Mitsubishi trucks.

There are now 38 full-line Autocar sales and service dealers. By July 31, Autocar said it plans to have 70 dealer locations across North America, plus more than 100 service locations and 200 Xpeditor parts supply locations.

“We have the one and only dealer network that is 100% committed to LCOE customers,” said Mike Popovich, vice-president of sales and marketing for Autocar.

Autocar also announced the hiring of ProAct Service Group of North Kansas City, Mo., to develop, launch, and maintain a merchandising program for the Autocar brand. Merchandise will be available at Autocar dealers and on the Internet at www.autocarcoolstuff.com, starting next month. Canadian orders will be fulfilled by ProAct’s warehouse in Barrie, Ont.

Autocar LLC was formed last July when parent company Grand Vehicle Works bought the Autocar name and the Xpeditor truck line from Volvo Trucks North America. Autocar is the oldest vehicle nameplate in continuous production in the United States.
