BC Ferries presents terminal improvement plan to West Vancouver
VANCOUVER (Nov. 15, 1999) — B.C. Ferries presented its draft long-term plan for terminal improvements at Horseshoe Bay last week, which includes an expanded vehicle-holding compound to reduce traffic ques on the Upper Levels Highway, and a new parkade with 350 public parking spaces and a terminal maintenance facility beside Berth 3.
“This plan represents a long-term solution to the lack of terminal space at Horseshoe Bay and the need for improved safety and traffic flow,” said B.C. Ferries president and CEO Bob Lingwood, adding that it is also designed to help alleviate traffic congestion within the community.
The estimated cost of the improvements is about $25 million over three years. In the meantime, more frequent sailings at peak times will alleviate these problems, he said.
