BC Ferries to hike truck crossing fee
VICTORIA — B.C. Ferries will once again raise commercial vehicle rates in a few weeks. The service already increased passenger vehicle and passenger fees on Nov. 1.
On Dec. 1, truckers who use the ferry will see rate increases on major routes by about 2.8 percent because of the rising cost of fuel, BC Ferries says. Other routes will have increases as high as 4,4 percent in 2007.
Most Tsawwassen, Swartz Bay, Horseshoe Bay, Departure Bay routes from Monday to Friday will have rate hikes of an additional 15 cents, plus a 32-cent fuel surcharge. Weekend rates jump up a quarter more.
Saltery Bay to Earls Cove (Return) will see a 20-cent increase, and a 63 cent fuel surcharge.
