B.C. firm joint-ventures for routing system
BURNABY, B.C. (Feb. 15, 2000) — Platon Consulting Ltd., a subsidiary of Group West Systems, has entered into a joint venture with Crane & Associates, of Portland, Ore.,to market a newly developed rating and routing system designed to achieve “substantial” cost savings for logistics organizations.
The Transmanage division of Crane will initially handle the marketing. Company officials indicate that the as-yet-unnamed product will be targeted at North American companies currently spending more then $1 million annually in transportation costs, and is described as being of benefit to industries where rail or truck freight is a significant cost component of distribution.
The product is expected to be fully available within the next 90 days, and will be offered through the Application Service Provider (ASP) model.
