BCTA names new chairman; exec committee

VICTORIA — The British Columbia Trucking Association has named Dietmar Krause of TMS Transportation Management Services Ltd. is Chairperson.

He takes over for Jack Bandstra of Bandstra Transportation System.

The announcement was made at the association’s annual conference and general meeting in Victoria. Also elected to the executive committee for 2006-07:

First Vice Chairperson: Greg Rogge, Clark Reefer Lines.
Second Vice Chairperson: Murray Scadeng, Triton Transport.
Secretary/Treasurer: Steve Islaub, Vedder Transport.
Alternate: Florent Foucher, Excel Transportation.
Associate Members: Tony Van Leeuwen, Finning (Canada)

Meanwhile, this year’s BCTA Honourary Life Membership was unanimously given to Shub Bawa — a long-time supporter of the BCTA through membership since 1957, leadership and service to the BCTA Board of Directors and Committees, and input to policies and programs for the betterment of the association and motor transport industry.

He served on the BCTA Board of Directors from 1992 to 2006, including chair of the board from 1998 to 2000 and on the executive committee from 1997 to 2002.

In 2003, he was presented with the BCTA Service to the Industry Award.
