Bison bulks up

WINNIPEG – Bison Transport has invested $31 million to expand its fleet y adding 200 heated trailers and 300 trucks.

Jeff Pries, Bison’s vice-president of sales, said the company made the investment due to increasing clientele.

"We landed some new multi-year contracts last fall with national clients for coast-to-coast transportation opportunities. We can point to signs in our business that our volumes are on the rise,” Pries says.

Bob Dolyniuk executive director of Manitoba Trucking Association told local media tht fleet expansion is indicative of an industry that is seeing signs of improvement since the economic collapse over two years ago.

"There have been some positive signs, business has been slowly increasing. Those slow, steady improvements are certainly good indicators for us," he says.
