Bridgestone/Firestone Canada continues search for truck-driving heroes
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (August 30, 2001) — As the country marks National Trucking Week, Bridgestone/Firestone Canada renewed its call for truck drivers who have put their lives on the line to save others.
The tire company is accepting nominations for the 43rd annual Bridgestone/Firestone Canadian Truck Hero Award, which recognizes a Canadian professional truck driver “who has demonstrated courage, quick thinking, and integrity” during an incident taking place between Oct. 1, 2000, and Sept. 30, 2001, the company said.
Nominations are open until Oct. 19.
The award will be presented in Toronto at the Ontario Trucking Association convention in November. In addition to an all expense paid trip for two to the event, the winner will receive $3000 from Bridgestone/Firestone Canada Inc.
Complete information about criteria for the award and nomination forms are available at www.truckhero.ca or by calling the toll-free number, 1-866/827-8098. Nomination forms are also available from provincial trucking associations and the Canadian Association of Police Chiefs.
The 2001 Bridgestone/Firestone Canadian Truck Hero Award is supported by the Canada Safety Council, the Ontario Trucking Association, and the Canadian Trucking Alliance.
