Byers Transport folded into CF

CALGARY — TransForce has just about wrapped up the integration of Byers Transportation with Canadian Freightways.

In a letter to customers, TransForce says that on Nov. 29 it will complete the merger of the systems, operations and service centers in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver – the only three locations that have not yet been consolidated.

Effectively, Byers will no longer be a standalone nameplate beyond this weekend.

The company says the move was done to continue to improve service, while realizing efficiencies that will allow western operations to remain cost competitive.

The company says that rates will remain unchanged and customers using both carriers will see combined packages for the appropriate lanes.

As well, the company mentions that beginning on Jan. 3, CF will be running expedited team service from the three western provinces to Dallas for 3 and 4 day service to all points in Arizona, Louisiana , Oklahoma and other parts of Texas.

Meanwhile, as todaystrucking.com reported earlier this week, longtime CF president Darshan Kailly announced his retirement after 50 years with the company.
