Calyx’s spring bloom includes new freight brokerage
TORONTO — While some major Canadian carrier companies have quieted down in the current market, Calyx Transportation Group continues to press on, full speed ahead.
Just a few weeks after announcing the acquisition of Totalline Transport and two of its logistics divisions, the company announces it has launched Hyphen Freight Brokerage, a new operating subsidiary.
“With the launch of Hyphen, we are setting rigorous standards for a transportation brokerage company,” says Mark Kummer, president of Hyphen. “Our approach to delivering brokerage services is multi-faceted. Service is not achieved through one element alone.”
Hyphen’s goal is to meet the demands of every client across multiple industries, including consumer packaged goods, retail, steel, produce and energy.
“Our typical approach is to acquire companies that fill gaps in our current service offering. But as we explored the myriad of freight brokerages in the market today, we concluded that to set service standards that aligned with the other Calyx brands, we had to build a unique, original model,” says Douglas J. Harrison, president, Calyx Transportation Group.
Hyphen has established relationships with carriers throughout North America, ensuring that clients have access to a wide variety of equipment, including flatbed, temperature-controlled trucks, rail container and railcar equipment.
While Hyphen’s focus is on addressing the truckload transportation needs of clients within the U.S. and from the U.S. into and across Canada, the company is backed by the assets and full range of transportation services provided by members of the Calyx Group, including ground, air and ocean transportation.
