Canadian microelectronics company partners with Wheel Monitor Inc.

DELTA, B.C. (Sept. 22, 2000) — AimGlobal Technologies Company Inc. announced that its Aimtronics Corp. division has entered an agreement with Wheel Monitor Inc. for production of truck and trailer monitoring systems.

The company said its EMS division Aimtronics, which has been involved in the systems’ design and prototyping, will continue to provide a full range of supply-chain solutions and electronics manufacturing expertise to Wheel Monitor, which produces trailer monitoring modules that communicate with a display in the cab using a “PLC4Trucks” standard Intellon chip-set.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will require a trailer ABS in-cab brake-fault warning system starting March 1, 2001. All trailers made after that period will have to have an ABS fault warning light in view of the driver.

In mid-October, Wheel Monitor, based in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., will be introducing its CTC cab trailer communications technology, designed to meet the NHTSA mandate.
