Canadian tank truckers honored by U.S. group

LAS VEGAS — Two Canadian fleets have been recognized south of the border for being some of the safest tank truck companies in North America.

At the recently held annual meeting of the National Tank Truck Carriers Conference (NTTC) in Las Vegas, Trimac Transportation of Calgary won the award for carriers in the 100 Million Mile Class and Windsor, Ont.-based Gorski Bulk Transport won the award for carriers in the International — Over 5 Million Miles Class.

RST Industries of New Brunswick finished in third in that same category.

The DOT accident frequency in 2006 for carriers participating in the NTTC Annual Safety Contest falls from 0.0570 to 0.545 per million miles traveled.
